The solution wasn’t that easy, and I’m not that blind/stupid/whatever not to know to change the chipset setting in my kernel configuration. However it works for now, but only with the d300 driver from Gentoo forums Howto

If your lspci output shows,

01:05.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc RV350 [Mobility Radeon 9600 M10]

It should work. However I think I know your problem, make sure the Intel chipset support is compiled / enabled in the kernel config as follows (might vary),

Device Drivers —>

Character devices —>

[M] /dev/agpgart (AGP Support)
[M] Intel 440LX/BX/GX, I8xx and E7×05 chipset support
[M] Direct Rendering Manager (XFree86 4.1.0 and higher DRI support)

[M] ATI Radeon

Dont forget to add intel-agp to the /etc/modules.autoload.d/kernel-2.6 file.

Doesn’t work for me. Mobility Radeon 9600 on Hp nc6000, intel chipset
